Summer. Warm air, flowers popping, sunshine and … ants. No one wants them in their house and if you have pets you don’t want to use poisons in your home. This recipe for what I refer to as ‘Borax Balls’ uses common household items to rid your house of ants naturally and completely!
I came home from work yesterday and was horrified to see a conga line of tiny red ants crawling from the kitchen window, across the sink and down the cabinet. Ants are just plain gross to begin with but I was having friends over last eve for a fire to celebrate the Summer Solstice and needed them gone, fast. I know the last thing I want to see when I go to a house party is ants … inside. So I did a quick on-line search for ways to naturally rid your house of ants and came up with a long list of solutions. After reading through some testimonials I combined a couple of recipes and came up with this one.
I ‘wiped’ up the visible ants and mixed up this little recipe. I placed a few Borax Balls indiscriminately where the ant path was and hoped for the best. I never saw another ant.
I dealt with an ant invasion last year which was the first time I had ants in the house in over 16 years. I tried quite a few methods but they still came back this year! So now I have a sure-fire remedy: Borax! I can’t even think about what it does to the ants, all I know is they disappear overnight. And they don’t come back!
Borax Balls Recipe:
- 1 Tablespoon of Sugar
- 1 Teaspoon Borax
- Agave Syrup
Mix the Sugar and Borax together and then add enough Agave to make a paste. I took a teaspoon and scooped a little of the paste out, made little balls and set them where the ants were. Presto! No more ants.
I also set a few balls outside the kitchen window to kill the ants at their entry point.
This stuff works!
