The nights are cool, the leaves are falling and Halloween is just around the corner which means it’s time to gather on our friend’s patio, The Oasis, for our annual pumpkin carving party. This is a great yearly tradition because it makes a final, but fun, mental transition from Summer to Fall. And it’s always great to eat, laugh, drink and hang out with friends around the fire pit.
We arrived armed with stencils, carving tools and pumpkins. Because the light starts fading fast at this time of the year, we got to work quickly scooping out our pumpkins, taping the stencils on and carving our spooky creations.
And it’s always an adventure. This year, about 20 minutes into carving the sky became ominously dark, we had to put our tools and pumpkins down and quickly move the party into the garage until the rain passed. But we didn’t miss a beat.
As we finished carving our pumpkins we lined them up on the steps and lit them.
Lots of pictures were taken as we admired our works of art.
Seriously, it was like the Paparazzi shooting a Celebrity Pumpkin Parade.
Tired and famished from all our hard work (wink, wink), we relaxed by the fire, munching on roasted pumpkin seeds (from our very own pumpkins) drinking Pumpkin beer and of course, gazing at our glowing sculptures.
It was fun to feel like a kid again.
